Article One on Alcohol - "Intoxicants and Recreational Games"
The idea that Muhammad (saw) drank alcohol is a reach even for those at WikiIslam, showing how they are picking at straws.
Let's get started.
For their first hadith, they quote Sahih Muslim 3753, but, in quickly looking up the hadith, we can see that they either misnumbered the hadith [however I couldn't find it anywhere after searching for a very long time in Sahih Muslim], or they totally fabricated the hadith.
We can also see that this same hadith is in Book 10 of Sahih Muslim, which is titled "Business Transactions". Here is the real Sahih Muslim 3753:
"Mujahid said to Tiwus: Come along with me to Ibn Rafi b. Khadij in order to listen from him the hadith transmitted on the authority of his father (pertaining to the renting of land) from Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him). He (Tawus) scolded him and said: By Allah, it I were to know that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) had forbidden it, I would have never done it. But it has been narrated to me by one who has better knowledge of it amongst them (and he meant Ibn 'Abbas) that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: It is better if a person lends, his land to his brother (for cultivation) than that he gets recognised rent on it."
Sahih Muslim 3753

The people at WikiIslam continue to make the claim that "wine is praised in the Quran" with the following verse:
"And in the earth are tracts (diverse though) neighbouring, and gardens of vines and fields sown with corn, and palm trees - growing out of single roots or otherwise: watered with the same water, yet some of them We make more excellent than others to eat. Behold, verily in these things there are signs for those who understand!" [Translation of the Holy Quran 13:4]
In looking at the verse, it can be seen that God (swt) is talking about the creation of the Earth and its beauty. It is praising God (swt) and his ability to make such beautiful things.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our authors at WikiIslam also have not done their research, aside from using ctrl+F.
"Is the description of Paradise, which the righteous are promised, wherein are rivers of water unaltered, rivers of milk the taste of which never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey, in which they will have from all [kinds of] fruits and forgiveness from their Lord, like [that of] those who abide eternally in the Fire and are given to drink scalding water that will sever their intestines?" [Translation of the Holy Quran 47:15]
Except this wine is different from earthly wine. In 37:45-47, God (swt) describes this wine further to the Muslims.
"There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, White and delicious to the drinkers; No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated." [Translation of the Holy Quran 37:45-47]
God (swt) explains it more in 56:18-20 of the Quran.
"With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated -" [Translation of the Holy Quran 56:18-19]
With a little further research we can find that, in fact, the two wines are not similar at all.
"In another Hadith reported directly from the Prophet (peace be upon him), it has been explained, thus: This wine will not have been distilled from rotten fruit by beating and fermenting, like the wine in the world, but Allah will produce it also in the form of springs and cause it to flow into canals; then its quality will be such that it will be delightful for the drinkers. That is, it will not be bitter and foul-smelling like the wines of the world, which cannot be drunk even by the most habitual drinker without showing some distaste." [1]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As time goes on over the 23 years the Quran was revealed, it is not a hidden fact that the Quran discusses that there are some benefits to alcohol, but goes on to say that the sins outweigh the benefits. This is best summarized by:
"They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, "In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they should spend. Say, "The excess [beyond needs]." Thus Allah makes clear to you the verses [of revelation] that you might give thought." [Translation of the Holy Quran 2:219]
This is shown to be an issue of spirituality. One cannot accept alcohol and consistently practice, but be getting drunk every night [think about it, it's destructive to an area. When a liquor store is opened, crime often goes up around its general vicinity].

Article Two on Alcohol - "Muhammad Drank and Performed Ablution with Wine"
The people at WikiIslam, in their second article, make the exact same claim of Sahih Muslim #3753, which they fabricated, as the real hadith says the following (Book 10, "Business Transactions):
"Mujahid said to Tiwus: Come along with me to Ibn Rafi b. Khadij in order to listen from him the hadith transmitted on the authority of his father (pertaining to the renting of land) from Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him). The source provided for Musnad Ahmad #3594 is also incorrect. The actual hadith is:
It was narrated that 'Abdullah said: The Messenger of Allah said "The best of people are my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them, then those who come after them. Then there will come people who will rush to give their testimony before their oath or vice versa (i.e., they will combine their oath and testimony, sometimes putting one before the other, meaning that they will be careless about the issue of testimony and oath).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, we can see a use of extremely selective verses. They take from Chapter 8 of Sahih Muslim which is titled "PERMISSIBILITY TO USE NABIDH WHICH IS NOT STRONG AND HAS NOT TURNED INTO INTOXICANT", which they just happened to cut out.
"Ibn 'Abbas reported that Nabidh was prepared for Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) in the waterskin, Shu'ba said: It was the night of Monday. He drank it on Monday and on Tuesday up to the afternoon, and If anything was left out of it he gave it to his servant or poured it out."
Sahih Muslim 23:4972
Nabidh was not drunken for intoxication, but rather as a flavored drink . The alcohol found in nabidh naturally occurs from fermentation, which is why it is only consumed for the first 2-3 days after its preparation. After that period, the content would be thrown away for fear that it might become intoxicating. We can see this in several other sources.
"Ibn Buraida reported on the authority of his father that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: I forbade you to visit graves, but you may now visit them; I forbade you to eat the flesh of sacrificial animals after three days, but you way now keep it as along as you feel inclined; and I forbade you nabidh except in a water-skin, you may drink it from all kinds of water-skins, but you must not drink anything intoxicating."
Sahih Muslim 4:2131
"Abdullah b. Buraida reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said this: I prohibited you from visiting the graves, but (now) you may visit them, and I prohibited you (from eating) the flesh of sacrificed animals beyond three days, but now keep it as long as you like. I prohibited you from the use of Nabidh except (that prepared) in dry waterskins. Now drink (Nabidh prepared in any utensil), but do not drink when it becomes intoxicant."
Sahih Muslim 22:4866

Article Three on Alcohol - "Moderate Alcohol Consumption and its Health Benefits"
In their conclusion, after using science to prove the benefits of alcohol in moderation, "When used in moderation, research suggests that there are numerous benefits in the consumption of alcohol, and an all-knowing deity would have been aware of this." What's interesting is the fact that God (swt) explicitly stated this, and they quoted the verse, but glazed over this fact!
Quran 2:219 says:
"They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, "In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they should spend. Say, "The excess [beyond needs]." Thus Allah makes clear to you the verses [of revelation] that you might give thought." [Translation of the Holy Quran 2:219]
Thus, the Quran states spiritually catastrophic reasons as to why alcohol is not permitted and mentions the benefit of alcohol itself. With all of the destruction we see around us because of alcohol, it's a miracle that it could've been known by Muhammad (saw) through God (swt) that there were actually benefits to it, even after Hamza killed two of Ali's camels because of it! [Sahih Bukhari 4:53:324]
"Surely an all-knowing deity would have only prohibited its abuse and not given us an outright ban."
In this portion of the WikiIslam article, the author shows his internal arrogance. He demands to know why God (swt) would do this. While I cannot speak for God (swt), it is clear that with all of the partying, sex, drunk driving, and everything that so commonly goes on in America, alcohol is spiritually catastrophic, hence why it might be a sin. It is banned for the reason of sin, as given in 2:219. It enables one to do sin with much more ease.
Thus, we see God (swt)'s wisdom, as he truly allows us to be unquestionably Muslims by prohibiting this.

This was an answer to WikiIslam's articles: Intoxicants and Recreational Games and Muhammad Drank and Performed Ablution with Wine and Moderate Alcohol Consumption and Its Health Benefits. Everything in these articles has been proven to be false, or, in the case of the last article, proven to show that this already supports the Quran.
